| Archeologist Prof Nikolay Ovcharov and his team returned on the excavation sites in Perperikon despite the crisis. “We start with only 40 000 levs provided by Kardjali municipality. The money come to an extent from the entrance fees to the rock town collected last year. We have requested 180 000 but for now the Ministry of Finance has not answered us,” explained Prof Ovcharov. Forty or fifty people will be hired for the excavation works, for comparison, between 100 and 120 were engaged in previous years. The research in Perperikon should not be stopped, Ovcharov is explicit. The professor and his team will try to complete the research of the space between the palace sanctuary and the Acropolis. The archeologists hope to find traces from Perperokon’s earliest period.
A bronze medical instrument dating to 3 or 5th century has been unearthed recently there.
